Background and expectations:
– In recent years, we’ve witnessed an increasing level of partnership between IUCN as a Union and the private sector. While not IUCN ‘Members’ in the narrow sense, companies have worked with IUCN in the forms of i) philanthropic funding, ii) revisiting business operations in line with sustainability and iii) financial investment, among others. In attaining Nature-Positive in this region, it is ever more essential to consider how to engage with companies and their corporate activities.
– This side event provides an opportunity for IUCN Asia constituents and supporters to discuss how to further the relationships between companies and IUCN for a Nature Positive Future. Participants in the side event are expected to have a free exchange of views, preceded by panellists presenting on:
(a) the IUCN Council’s consideration of updating IUCN business engagement strategies and proposal to WCC on possibility of membership schemes for business,
(b) good practices of corporate involvement in nature conservation, and
(c) key questions on the future relationship between IUCN and business.
